Default opinions on this sub

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...747060901.html

appears to be a 4 voice coil sub with each being 1.3ohms...never heard of a setup like this.

How would this be wired into an amp and what would be the final imp. the amp would see. And what kinda amp would be required for it?

Any opinions on this sub?

I'm looking at a putting a single 15" into the extended cab part of my 2000 S10 behind the drivers seat.

I would be a little skeptical about it.

But then again, I have an "ultimate" 10" sub that I couldn't find much info on, but I love how it sounds.

Why do you want such a large sub?

M.A. Audio is that short for Marathon. If it is I really like Marathon stuff. 1000 watts doubt it. It's usually cheap stereo equipment that over rate their stuff from my experience.

I would personally go for 2 high end 10's or 2 12's over one 15".

Parallel 2 voice coils and you will get .65 ohms.
Then parallel the other 2 and you will get .65 ohms.
Then series both pairs together and you will have a 1.3 ohm total.

You will need a one ohm stable mono block sub amp of whatever the subs rated rms power is.

Honestly that sub is probably a waste of time and you are better off buying a single high end spl 12"sub put into a build to spec ported enclosure. Quality yeilds better sounding, louder results over quantity every time.

Ya the stats on a type x look really good.

Anyone got any typeX 12's or a 15 for sale at a decent price?

type x is loud as fuck, but crappy sound. the JL version sounds better. honestly for a pickup, 1 alpine Type R 12, is more than enough to make you deaf.

Bass is never as loud in a pickup cab as it is in a cars trunk. The more space you have for the bass to travel, the louder

i know, but in my ranger XLT i had a 600watt sub, was more than loud enough, The type R was overkill for me.depends which way you face it aswell

I think the idea is to try to keep the bass in the vehicle i had 700 watts going to a set of 8" subs in my b3000 could hardly hear it out side the truck but it would blow your head off in the cab

I'm a big fan of overkill

not only do I want it to be super loud inside, I want it to annoy all the old fucks I drive past as well. :)

I think a 15 would fit well in the space I have. Not quite enough room for 2 12's cause I only wanna use half the extended cab for a box, and keep half for storage and for someone to cram in if need be

From personal experiance alpine type R or S subs where crap IMO. Haven't seen a type X though and the stats look good.... 500-1000 watts RMS

i think your wrong on stats, i think the type x is rated higher rms than 500-1000, as for rs and s's, they are not bad, i have 2 new type s 10's in my truck, they are dvc, i have 2 amps, 1 per sub, both 500.1 mono blocks, truck just hit 102db, pretty fuckin load for all off the shelf parts with only two 10's in stock store bought boxes

type R's are 500RMS 1500 peak, type x is 1000RMS 3000 peak. a lot of the "loudness" has to do with what OHMs you run.

Ooh for sure. My subs are 2 ohm. And that 102 was with normal cd. Haven't used an actual
Bass test cd. And my system isint really tuned fully. Ontop of that I should be running a line
Driver as each amp is only seeing half the amount of volts input it should have so will be louder when that is done and with a tuned box it should be pretty loud
